Climate Fiction: Further reading
Constantly being updated!
Looking for the quest? >>> A Quest for the Future
Books from a wide variety of fiction genres that touch on climate themes in some way. Please bear in mind that while cli-fi can be hopeful, it also touches on a lot of difficult themes, so make sure to protect your mental health too.

Well, you have options
Book titles that represent reasons you might go to the doctor, what you might say to each other, or what treatments might be offered to cure your ailments. It's up to you to decide what is whatπ
(This is not a commentary on these books or authors! The focus of this list is purely on the titles---but if you find a favorite new read here, I'd love to knowπ€)

A Picture of Pagebound
Book titles that illustrate things Pagebound users might do or say, or titles that might describe the app or its users. Recommendations are welcome (this is meant to be fun, please do not suggest titles that are rude or aggressive)!

Mother Nature (Natural Phenomena on the Cover)
Based on the HRCYED 3.0 prompt! Books with weather or natural disasters/phenomena on the cover (at least one version), including: rain, storms, lightning, clouds, snowfall, fog, sunshine, tornados, earthquakes, wildfires, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis.
Not an exhaustive list - feel free to suggest titles! I tried to keep it more focused on books that fit the prompt but would be harder to find (i.e. ones that don't have the key words in the title).

Hooked by the title
Novels with intriguing titles (that I read or that sound interesting) in English (either originally or translated); a mix of genres. Mostly 4+ words in the title, with some select 3-word-titles but no shorter ones. No parts of series except for the first book.

Great Lakes (mainly Michigan) literature
Fresh coast, best coast π For anyone who is also obsessed with the upper Great Lakes: Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ontario, etc. Suggestions are welcome!

Upper Midwest is Best ππ§
Letβs hear it for the flyover states! Fictional books set in the Upper Midwest. Apparently weβre only worthy of being flown over but those who know, know.

HRCYED 3.0! July 7, 2026 - July 6, 2027 π€
Hardest Reading Challenge Youβll Ever Do! Subject to changes since Iβm fickle. All 150 books plus the 2 bonus! Iβm probably crazy for trying π« I have repeated authors mostly because Iβm trying to use books I already own. Iβm not sure if thatβs taboo or notβ¦

water based fiction
a selection of literature that has somewhat an eerie vibe, that focuses on oceans, rivers, ... any bodies of water, really. Water as transformation tool, water as a home or water as the thing giving life or killing it off. Sometimes water is a main character, sometimes it's just a presence, sometimes it's the lover, the friend, the family member, but other times it's the dream that can never be reached.
