Recs if you like Overgrowth...

One of several Non-Humans & Empathy -themed lists by @Myth.Ink (See also: Non-Fiction, GNs/Manga+, Youth Titles, Creature Feature, & the Official @Myth.Ink Curation) | This list is the FICTION-realistic edition, including fictional interactions and considerations of interactions between plausibly realistic non-human beings of all types (trees, robots, animals, ai, aliens, objects, science-experiment beings, etc) and humans, empathy and lack thereof. | Suggestions more than welcome!

books about people transforming into, or being reincarnated as, plants 🌱 (or trying their best to)

suggestions welcome!

Cottagecore, but make it disgusting & horrifying. I feel like CG Drews would like this list

Books in this list are in at least two quests. Thus helping to earn more badges. Books will span different genres. Once I scan through all the quests, I plan to further organize the list. I am thinking of creating a seperate list and moving the books with three or more quests to the new list and keeping the two badge books in this list. Are there other ways you would organize a list this big?

Books featuring events like body takeovers, body jumping, body swapping, parasitism, and other similar phenomena! Please feel free to give recommendations in the comments!

They say spring is the time when nature comes to life. And sometimes that's scary.

Name-calling and insults you might hear on the playground and beyond...

Anything can be an insult if you believe it! My kid brother used to get in trouble for calling us "you...you BEAN" with all the spite his little preschool self could manage 🥹

gays in space (or I guess sometimes dealing with space shit on earth), with a tending toward optimistic futures. this list will continue to grow and change over time. this list includes trans folks, queercore, and graphic novels.

if a book is part of a series, I'm only listing the first book just so the list doesn't get overrun.

I'm a human. Just like you. I walk like you, talk like you...I'm just like you...Right? Books where a main character is not entirely human and/or is an alien, monster, spirit, eldritch horror, etc. who has disguised themself as a human. Do they want to be human? Or do they want to eat humans? Or some secret third thing? Who knows? You decide. (Please comment your suggestions!)

Morally grey or straight up baddies? Aiming to collect books written from a villainous/morally grey POV so suggestion appreciated.

books with botanical horror themes, inspired by the botanical horror quest and don't let the forest in!

Shhh it's okay, just let the plants inside

botanical horror my beloved

dismemberment, parasitic infection, medical transmutation... body horror truly has it all. when the horror lives inside you, when there's no external danger, what do you do? you can't run from the transformation you've undergone. body horror centers the unbecoming of who you are at your core and the subsequent changes on the outside.

plants and horror. for those who love botanical horror, because nature can be sinister.

Books that will make you reconsider every salad you've ever eaten. May include paranoia, laughter, and apologizing to your lawn.

you are the only one that notices the change in them. no one else believes they have been Replaced.

Books that feel like the Not!Them from The Magnus Archives 🖤💚

floral and fungal. all things must return to the earth
