Recs if you like Wool...

Books in this list are in at least two quests. Thus helping to earn more badges. Books will span different genres. Once I scan through all the quests, I plan to further organize the list. I am thinking of creating a seperate list and moving the books with three or more quests to the new list and keeping the two badge books in this list. Are there other ways you would organize a list this big?

Apocalyptic and/or post apocalyptic books

The books that have always been there, warning that these things might be coming if we don't change. So pick one up, grab a fridge cigarette, and let it sharpen your rage into something constructive.

Pre-, early and post- apocalyptic dystopias

Dystopian classics and contemporary books for adults

dystopian: relating to or denoting an imagined state or society where there is great suffering or injustice.

Books that are set in worlds that are either in the midst of facing world ending catastrophes or shortly there after. This list focuses on books that show how humans evolve and survive given the new circumstances they're in.

As always, open to suggestions for additions to the list! 🙂

a list of the books that are in 2 quests

A place to find books about experiments, lab testing, or other strange controlled environments that take a turn. Please make recommendations if you have them. This is one of my favorite concepts.

dystopian novels or short stories (if you have suggestions or think there are mistakes please let me know!)

edit: a dystopian book describes an undesirable society, and contains themes of oppression perpetrated by a tyrannical government. It is different from post-apocalyptic books (like The Road), which can contain similar themes, but lack the social commentary about living in fear of the government, lack of individualisation, propaganda, etc.

Stories of survival and the end of the world from the POV of queer folks and women.*

*note, if there’s a cis-man POV in one of the listed books, there will also be a non-cis male main character as well

💬OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS. Just comment and I will add.

"Allegory of the Cave", a story inside "The Republic", is about prisoners chained inside a dark cave with shadows of puppets on the wall. The prisoners mistake these shadows for reality. When one prisoner escapes into the outside world, the sunlight hurts his eyes, but he eventually sees real objects and the sun. When he returns to free the others, they reject and mock him. This story has inspired several books, which focus on ignorance of society, followed by discovery of truth.

Science fiction books that have been adapted into TV shows

Books with a crazy twist or two.

Journey into strange new (or uncomfortably familiar) worlds in this list of dystopian and post-apocalyptic fiction. Warning: May contain rebellions, quests, and morally grey protagonists.

Enjoying life a bit too much? Everything feeling like it's going too well for you? These books show the alternate realities you could've been in, had you not been in your current potential hell hole! Enjoy reading about the potential misery of the future!

Books featuring a day in the life for characters in a high-stress, high-stakes environment where no matter how bad things get, intense fear won't put food on the table. Every day could be your last, but it's not over yet, so...

The general vibe of this list is to collect books which, rather than changing the world through a heroic perfect storm, involve a slice-of-life portrayal of a character's daily journey through a rather dangerous path.
