POV: youβre at a thrift store
Books you will find on any given thrift store shelf in the US, for better or worse π For books in a series or by prolific authors, Iβve only included one book so as not to overwhelm the list.
Suggestions welcome!
I think it goes without saying but just in caseβ¦ Iβm not necessarily recommending these books by having them on this list. (In fact I wouldnβt recommend many of these.) This is for fun!

yea thatβs a thriller
no matter what happens, there will be books with neon-text-on-a-dark-background covers and they will be thrillers.

it's my island i can kill if i want to ποΈ
a list of murder mysteries that take place on a remote island. slap on your sunscreen, grab that cocktail with the fancy straw and get ready for some suspicious invitations, shocking secrets and maybe even a red herring or two...

Seaside Gothic
Inspired by the sea fog, whistling winds, and the dark sea crashing against the rocks in summer

oh no step-detective, i'm stuck!
stuck on an island, snowed in, on a boat, aboard a moving train... this list is crime fiction -mostly murder mysteries- in which the characters are stuck in an isolated location and cut off from the outside.
disclaimer: i haven't read all of these so lmk if a book doesn't fit, and feel free to leave suggestions in the comments!

Book(s) of the Month(s) π
Here's every book so far from BOTM's monthly shortlist since February 2015 for anyone who wants to read them all like I do!

Mysteries and Thrillers
This includes book that have either mystery or thrillers as a primary or secondary genre. If you have recommendations to add please comment and I'll happily add them π

If BookTok sneezed, it ended up on this listβ¦
Featuring morally gray men, unreliable narrators, emotional damage, dragons, serial killers, fake dating, enemies-to-lovers, and at least 47 books someone claimed βchanged their life.β Proceed with caution.

I'm not trapped here with you...
... You're trapped here with me! The format: A group of people (could be strangers, or long-lost friends) are gathered or trapped in an isolated place together. Maybe it's a remote island. Maybe a cozy cabin during a blizzard. Someone is killed. The killer is obviously among them, but who?! Submissions welcome because this is my favourite mystery sub-genre at the moment, and I can't wait to discover more!

couldn't have happened to a nicer guy (or gal)
mysteries and thrillers in which the victim high-key sucks. rest in pieces, shitheads! love to hate 'em, we will not miss them. disclaimer: while the list creator is a certified hater, in no way is the list creator or pagebound condoning or encouraging violence, even in situations when that person does, in fact, suck.

The top 100 books of the 2020βs as voted on by Goodreads members
How many have you read?
The top 5 have switched order, they should be: 5) Iβm Glad My Mom Died 4) The Midnight Library 3) The House in the Cerulean Sea 2) Project Hail Mary

Mother Nature (Natural Phenomena on the Cover)
Based on the HRCYED 3.0 prompt! Books with weather or natural disasters/phenomena on the cover (at least one version), including: rain, storms, lightning, clouds, snowfall, fog, sunshine, tornados, earthquakes, wildfires, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis.
Not an exhaustive list - feel free to suggest titles! I tried to keep it more focused on books that fit the prompt but would be harder to find (i.e. ones that don't have the key words in the title).

Audie Award-Winning Audiobooks from 2021-2026
Iβm an audiobook lover, and Iβm always looking for great audiobooks! Rather than just listing my favorites, I thought Iβd make a list of audiobooks that have won Audie Awards from 2021-2026.
There are so many, so I stuck to specific categories. Not all categories are in all years, so there is some inconsistency. I included the following categories:
