Inspired by the sea fog, whistling winds, and the dark sea crashing against the rocks in summer

This looks fun! 🌊

Thank you! I’ve been very inspired by my trips to the beach recently haha

Obsessed with this niche sub-subgenre 👀🦇🌊 Dracula would be great for this!

3

Oooh I haven’t seen an ocean mention in Dracula yet (I’m about 20% of the way through). Are there more ocean settings later on in the story?

2

The town in England where they live is a seaside town, I can't remember how prevalent the mentions are to be fair but it's very prevalent in my mind and how I think of Dracula

2

That’s fair! I’m excited to get to that part then cause that sounds like the perfect spooky setting 🙂‍↕️🌊

Tangentially there's a book about the ship's voyage (a queer retelling of it really) called The Route of Ice and Salt, that one definitely fits

1

Obsessed with this list!! 🤩

3

😍 I’m so glad you love it! Always taking recs too if you have any!

1

Love this omg!!!! (Btw dark and drowning tide takes place over rivers not sea. There may be a bit of sea towards the end but idr for sure)

2

Oh good to know!! Thank you! I haven’t read all of them, just chose off of synopsis/recs/vibes so that’s helpful. :) I may remove that one since it doesn’t fit the theme exactly

1

This gives Widow's Bay vibes!!!! I loveeee so many books on this list.

2

I keep seeing that show pop up on my tiktok fyp! I wasn’t aware it had a seaside gothic vibe so now I definitely gotta watch it! 🙂‍↕️ Which is your favorite book from the list?

2

I’m between Rebecca and A Study in Drowning!!! Both are just 👩🏻‍🍳👌🏼. I went to Cornwall recently and stayed in Jamaica Inn, where Du Maurier stayed and then wrote the titular book! Very coastal gothic vibes with the cliffs and rain!

2

Agree Study in Drowning is one of my all time faves. 🙂‍↕️ Rebecca is definitely on my TBR. That’s sooo cool you got to stay at the Jamaica Inn 🤩 that sounds perfect.
