Recs if you like Unwind ...

A list of books with corrupt, evil, or just downright bad governments! I'm not sure how I ended up reading so many of these types of books (prob my love for dystopia) but here I am haha. Most of these will prob include taking down said evil government. I will update this list as I read more books with bad govs.

Allow me to set the scene:

It’s 2 AM on a school night but you only have 100 pages left. You will power through. Forget the math test you have first period. This is your priority. And you must know how the book ends.

I don’t know what sort of millennial catnip these 2000s YA authors put in these books, but let me tell you, my “baby millennial” self was addicted.

These books take a look at what the freedom to make one’s own choices means.

Since my Solarpunk list was liked so much I decided to just continue with the sci-fi subgenres.

Biopunk is a sci-fi subgenre that fuses biology, technology, and often dystopian themes. It involves themes of genetic engineering, body modifications, biotechnology, and the ethical consequences of these advancements on society. The subgenre is closely related to cyberpunk and has lots of overlap. We follow underdogs that fight against the system or try to carve out a little bit of freedom.

When a power couple overthrows a tyrannical or broken government together.

Bonus points if they don't agree on the right way to do it but through falling in love with each other they learn to appreciate the other person's experiences and it helps them build something even better for their people when they combine ideas sobs

I love YA. It can suck pretty bad when the books try to copy each other. But when some of those gems pop up...wowza! Who knew you could tell such a hard-hitting story without having to resort to 1,000 pages & sex?
