Teenage Millennial Memories Unlocked 🗝️

Allow me to set the scene:

It’s 2 AM on a school night but you only have 100 pages left. You will power through. Forget the math test you have first period. This is your priority. And you must know how the book ends.

I don’t know what sort of millennial catnip these 2000s YA authors put in these books, but let me tell you, my “baby millennial” self was addicted.

Pagebound Millennials: what YA were you reading?

AAAA Marked and the whole series of House of the Night by PC Cast doesn't get the recognition it deserves. I was obsessed with it as a teenager.

6

I’m going to have to go through this list to make me feel like I’m back in the 2000s because it’s like missed opportunities. 😅

5

Time travel… but without the flip phones and ultra low-rise jeans.

3

Yess!!!

This is AMAZING and unlocked so many memories. I was obsessed with Evermore by Alyson Noel too!

5

Added! 💜

2

Same, I loved Evermore series in high school.

What a trip down memory lane this list was.

2

Truly! I feel like I need to schedule a nostalgia month for myself this year and just read a bunch of the books I loved in high school

2

I did that once when I was in a reading slump post college. It was so much fun.

2

I don't know if anyone here read the Hex Hall trilogy by Rachel Hawkins. Buddy read it with my classmates when I was 14. Loved every second of it.

5

Added! 💚

2

Loved that series!

2

Lmao iconic thank you

4

seeing blue bloods on this list has my millennial heart doing backflips 😭🥹

4

maximum ride will forever haunt me

3

same 😩😩 and patterson released another book in 2020 like sir??? hello???

1

WHAT? It’s still going? OMG!

1

like im begging him to stop for everyones sake

1

Yeah, like, come on Jim, haven’t you written enough books??

1

jim its time to retire. jim please

2

Jim, we’re begging. Stop hogging all the paper. Leave some paper for someone else.

2

Tbf, his kids/teens/Jimmy Patterson Presents books still get the young'ns reading. Why? I have no idea. The only one of is I managed to read was non-fiction about bookstores and booksellers. It was okay, but grew rather tedious toward the end.

2

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. this list is an absolute trip down memory lane. the peak of my reading era 😂

3

There was another fallen angel series, I think? I can’t remember?

1

Are you thinking of Fallen by Lauren Kate?

3

Yup. TY!!

1

Yes. How did I forget?

1

OMG this list is so accurate 😭 I've never seen The Murder of Bindy Mackenzie or The Year of the Secret Assignments on a list like this before! I was so obsessed with that series as a teenager.

3

My question is, where's the first book in that series, and the fourth? Feeling Sorry for Celia led me into this series. I haven't read the fourth yet. Saving it for a rainy day, I guess.

2

I've barely read a few of these... Clearly my teenage years could've been better 🤣

2

I only read a few too! But I feel it's a testament to interests lol. I mean my shelves had RL Stine lining them instead.

4

Oh oh also Every Day by David Levithan

2

You are so funny for this 😂 Honestly round of applause.

2

The Mediator Series by Meg Cabot has my tweenage self in a CHOKEHOLD omgggg

2

Same here. Honestly one of my absolute favourites.

1

This is great!! Some suggestions: A Series of Unfortunate Events (maybe just The Bad Beginning for ease), Inkheart, Speak, Eragon, ttyl, So You Want to be a Wizard, Holes, Sabriel. All very present in my young millennial life

2

1

Leave it in the past. Hold on to your cherished memories. I can almost guarantee it will not hold up.

2

1

1

Would the "Uglies" be a contender here?

1
