i really, really, REALLY wanted to read this book. i started listening to the audiobook... only to find myself craning to understand the Irish accents. i know i know it's really bad but i cant understand half of what they're saying! DNFing until i have time to read a physical copy.

so I’m a little confused.. why is Emma looking into the murder of her parents when they died because of Sebastian and the Dark War or am I missing something?

The more I read this book and get caught in the narration of Jane, the more I realize she is an autistic woman growing up during a time when any “abnormality” was shunned. You notice it in her ideas sense childhood, with a strong sense of justice and motivation to right wrongs done to her. She is constantly observing others and commenting on how and why they act the way they do.
