Recs if you like A Theory of Dreaming...

Works in the speculative, fantasy, science fiction, and horror genres by authors who are not cisgender! Two spirit, nonbinary, trans, genderfluid, and other gender diverse authors count!

Duologies. Duologies! A list full of duologies. This has a collection of titles I'm interested in and some recommended to me. To save you the trouble, I made sure to put both books in a duology in this list. Enjoy! 💐

This list is for stories about stories, including the more obvious "books-about-books", but also books about who gets to tell stories, what versions of stories become "truth", and other story-based themes. *While not intended to be strictly fantasy, this list does lean heavily into this genre due to my personal reading tastes. **Suggestions welcome!

Kinda spooky, probably dark and super atmospheric. May include: lady knights, academia settings, broody MMCs, haunted castles/manors, candelabras or gargoyles (BARTHOLOMEW!!)

As the name of the list suggests, these are books inspired by Welsh / Wales folklore, myths, history, etc. Absolutely open to recommendations!

(As this is very niche, I may end up expanding it to include Scottish and Celtic folklore as well, but for now we'll start with Welsh.)

feel free to give recs to add!

A mix of different books that all centre around the “dark academia” genre ✨

A list of books featuring the adventures of (mostly female) scholars and magical creatures

Books about books. Books about authors/writers. Books about readers…but not like Annie Wilkes from Misery. Just non-psychotic readers. This list doesn’t include libraries or bookstores, because those are totally different types of pizza.

You already know dark academia, the sub-genre that explores topics of knowledge and power within the institutional academic setting but some dark academia is also damp. The veneer of the school is prestigious but the foundation has been rotting in seawater since its constructuon.

A syllabus of fabricated expertise; (un)required reading for fictional studies. A list of Guides, Research and Case Studies from imagined worlds.

Books that feature water bc I love that kinda vibe 🌊

my new mythology hyperfixation!!

A cup of hot chocolate and the sound of crunching leaves

Romance books with a main character with depression - mental health representation.

Any books that have magical masquerades/ ball scenes (with romance!!) that sweep you off your feet and make you forget they’re just words on a page. Any recommendations are welcome!!

Duologies... Thus far...

i already have a tbr list of pretty much every book i want to get to sometime soon, but this is my official list as it stands at the moment (hopefully i’ll remember to update it rip). this is in no particular order for the most part.
