Recs if you like The Black Hunger...

The real world horror is, of course, homophobia, but in these books we also have, you know, ghosts, monsters, eldritch beings perhaps 🤔 a slasher or two. Haunted houses. The usual suspects 😏

There are some absolutely fantastic sapphic horror lists, and some generally queer ones too, but I looked and I couldn’t find a specifically achillian one, so I figured I’d give it a go!

Going back to the Dark Ages with all the horror and death they experienced. A comprehensive list including popular selections along with lesser known works to evoke the Olde Age scares.

(I try to update this list all any time I run across new ones!)

Creepy books made better because there are queer characters

This is an achillean horror books lists.. i make this because i want more gays. This list is inspired by the list made by @Thehobbit ( Yes. I definitely did not read like 99% of these books so. Y'all can like.. recs me some.. please ) + This is also a reminder i should read horror more, because why not, and they're fun and and — I hope yall have fun with this list, please educate me if i picked non achillean books as I've stated i have not read most of these, i will be updating over time.

books where there's gay people and cannibalism

historical fiction novels that also have cannibalism in them

ownvoices books across genres by queer men/masc authors that feature queer men as main characters

disclaimer: this is all just based on my own research and may not always be 100% accurate to the author’s identity - feel free to comment any edits or suggestions!

Mostly gay books that are dark or bloody or both! (Not finished yet!)

Goth books, watch out though, some might crossover into Vampire territory!

horror novels published in canada with a particular emphasis on Indigenous authors and indie press publications! I'm currently in a publishing program learning about how in danger the canadian publishing industry is and how rarely book reading in canada actually highlights our own authors so one could say this list is a cope and an attempt to add that to ways i'm diversifying my reading. obv disclaimer that canada is. yikes. but this is in the context of mainly american books being platformed

I find it fascinating!

nosferatu inspired reading list, books about obsessive and monstrously toxic dynamics, along with vampires and the gothic obviously.

Deep, dark hunger for the cloying sweetness of a meat that will never satisfy. The inescapable temptation of taboo to distract from the underlining dissatisfaction of life. The dark analogy of emotional desire manifesting as a physical hunger for the other.

Ever wanted to eat some mystery meat? Take a bite of this list and you might come close enough to that feeling, whether it's literal or metaphorical. ~~ Credit to the incredible @mother.horror on instagram for the inspiration for this list!

Technically for the HRCYED rainbow challenge and the coat of many colors secret challenge but if you just like your color titles then I hope you find something for you!
