Recs if you like The Way of Thorn and Thunder...

An ever growing list of sci-fi, speculative fiction, fantasy, and magical realism written by authors indigenous to (the entire continent of) America. Recommendations are always welcome! 🌟

Lately I’ve been craving that old school fantasy, but much more diverse than what you’d generally think of when you think of old school fantasy. So this list will be queer epic/high fantasy full of high stakes adventure and perhaps magic, but specifically that has the VIBES. vibes are essential.

As a note I haven’t read all of these books yet but I am making my way through them, and if any of them are not the match I think they are I’ll remove them (or feel free to comment to let me know!)

Stories centering Womxn, Two Spirit folk, and Queerz+ from Turtle Island and beyond. Currently making my way through the list and would love more suggestions! Happy reading my fellow book worms :)

classic, sprawling second-world epic fantasy books that feature traditional tropes, large ensemble casts and heavy political maneuvering.

Books and literature featuring narrators, main characters, or major supporting characters that are Two-Spirit (a culturally significant gender/queer identity in Native American cultures).
