Recs if you like Mort...

books in which Death, or a god of Death, or the Grim Reaper (or a Grim Reaper), is personified. This list will NOT include the works of Neil Gaiman (ew)

*SFF novels which use footnotes as a secondary narrative, paratext, or metacommentary on events in the main narrative.

Books with prominent non-human characters who are confused, horrified, fascinated, or delighted by human behavior!

Please add suggestions in the comments because I need more books like these 💜

Because if I don’t laugh I’ll cry. The more absurd the better, and suggestions welcome.

Self-contained SFF books that belong to a series, offering a complete story without a multi-book commitment. A perfect way to sample immersive worlds while limiting potential disappointment – yet still leaving more to explore if you liked it.

**Books with long footnotes (sometimes unnecessary but I love them) —I welcome suggestions for all my lists! (I want to keep in a good balance between fiction and non fiction tho so keep that in mind)

Featuring representations of the Grim Reaper, soul collectors, or gods over death and dying.

Name generators my beloveds. Just a list made by someone whose D&D characters were mostly christened with the help of RNG. The one and only criterion: Title is a first/given name (or nickname too)! Some are verified by the book actually containing a character with that name.

books i’m hoping to read for my first r/fantasy bingo

Books that feature a personification of Death who's a bit of a sweetheart. Maybe has a soft spot for cats. Maybe adopts neglected children and gives them a loving if unconventional home. That kind of thing.

Disclaimer: I have not read all the books in this list. Recommendations welcome!

All main novels related to Discworld by Terry Pratchett

Found family but specifically parent and child relationships (not sure why I love this so much but it’s underrated)

Literally. A personification of death. A god or godess of death. A grim reaper who knows who is meant to die and does that job.

Excellent stories for fall reading. A mix of scary, witchy, cozy, and/or mushroom-y fantasy/horror books included for all the fall moods.

In April 2003 the BBC's Big Read began the search for the nation's best-loved novel, and we asked you to nominate your favourite books.

Books that can be read on archive.org for free that look interesting - go and search up your tbr, this is only what I want to read so in no way a comprehensive list ☺️🌸 If you see this list after clicking on a book, you’ll know it’s available on archive.org Disclaimer: Some books are so hard to get tho because they are constantly borrowed
