non-fiction books for smart leftist babes

These are nonfiction recs that may be good for people just wanting to dip their toes into nonfiction. A lot of this focuses on shorter or graphic nonfiction, but also ones with interesting writing or really accessible explanations. Depending on what you read, some of these may be better for you than others. So, take a look and you should be able to find something good!

"I want to live in a World where people who learn about harm to others care more about ending it than proving they aren't causing it." - feminist next door

NonFiction books for those who are interested in what's happening in the world now (or at least, in the last decade) while also being super easy to read for those who don't usually jive with nonfiction.

Books from survivors and experts about the US, activism, and authoritarianism in every stage. We learn from history and we get through this together.

Riveting, serious, sometimes playful books about the immigrant experience in America that do not delude, sanitize, pander, or play into stereotypes.

Books I want to read to become informed instead of amusing myself to death out of fear 👍🏻

Must reads for our current times…

Nonfiction books on my TBR

This list is like a Lacroix- someone yelled Mexico in the other room while it was canned. Author is Mexican, Book is set in Mexico, maybe Mexico is mentioned often or tangential to the plot, Characters are of Mexican descent, depicts Chicana/Mexican-American experience, Mexico in the title, Author flew over Mexico while writing the book/j etc. As long as the reason it's on here makes sense to me :) but hopefully will be obvious to everyone; adult books only- will put Spanish versions if they are already entered on pagebound
