In progress / updated over time It’s a special interest of mine. ✨

these are the first volumes of some of the best comic and manga series. if you are new to comics/graphic novels or are looking to try a new series, this is the list for you.

An eclectic mix of fantasy, sci-fi, and nonfiction that either reimagines our world, builds an entirely new one, or reveals the wonders of the real world. If a book is part of a series, I’ve only included the first one.

If you have time to read all of "Inuyasha" or "One Piece" or "Dragonball", congratulations. I am envious. If you want to try out some manga series without dedicating years of your life, here's some shorter suggestions.

a list of a 99 manga's incl. ; some classic must reads , all kinds of genres to try , old and new

try out all of them to maybe find some new faves

Books with characters that run away / leave their old lives behind as a part of the plot (either temporarily or not)

(not genre specific and happy to take requests!) TW! (please check tws before reading some!)

These are books that deal with grief, but feel gentle. It's a lot of graphic novels and even some kid's books. A lot of these are stories that are light or made me feel held in a way. The nonfiction ones had good facts, but were also reassuring and/or didn't involve a lot of heavy details that some grief books can have.

graphic novels I love that I don't see getting attention so much - mostly adult with some YA.

the books we "read" in our discord :p

I have come to realise I am driven to stories which have a big focus on trauma. Here is a list of what I have already finished and enjoyed with a big focus on trauma either directly or indirectly through metaphors. Some of these will be more intense than others, please do read the description of each one for content warnings. I will try to keep this updated as I read more, you can mention recommendations in the comments but I won't add anything unless I have read it myself xD

Books with pictures/illustrations (e.g comics, manga, graphic novels, picture books) that have been adapted to TV shows or movies!

Only including the first book in the series (if there is one)!

recs are welcome!
