I was thinking about reading the Septimus Heap books again for fun, but I haven't read them since middle school and now I'm 29, do you think they're not too little kid-ish?
i was just going to comment something similar - i used to love septimus heap as a kid - i might do a re-read at some point if i get my hands on them again
Your local library might have them! I love how they all look like Septimus’ journals!
i frequent the YA section in my library and don’t recall seeing them BUT i will be checking again, and requesting them if they’re not available. worst case scenario, i’m pretty sure i have copies that i owned when i was a kid, and the next time i visit my parents i will be digging through my room to see if they’re still there 🥹
awwwww that sounds like a pretty good scenario! i wish i still had all of my childhood books! they could possibly be in the children's section, that's where they are at my local library!
ooh yeah! great point about the children’s section, i’ll definitely take a peek there too 😊 also my parents have only kept all the books i owned as a kid because they once lost a book (it was about disney princesses or something) during a move and i absolutely lost my mind LOL. i was turning the house upside down in tears for an entire weekend, so i think they learned to keep my books safe. they have moved around since i moved out, though, so idk how many of the books made it through safely

Honestly, even if it is it’s still a fun experience to pick up a book you loved as a kid! I added Septimus Heap and Bartimaeus because I remember being so in love with the worlds they inhabit! I never finished the Septimus Heap series but I still plan on it! I love the illustrations
I didn't finish either! Maybe that will just have to be one of the next series I pick up. I imagine at the very least they would be quick reads.

Aw, thank you! I did reread the series a few years back, my friend who had introduced them to me had also recently read them and said she felt they held up and I agreed! I’m planning to reread it in the new year!
