Teach me something new and oddly specific 💬
Niche nonfiction, aka micro-histories!

The history of *[niche subject]*
Do you want to be hot and smart but are tired of trying to find a nonfiction book that appeals to you? Why don't you try finding a fun subject and become the life of the party at your next gathering👀 everyone will stand up and give you a round of applause when you share these cool facts🙂↕️

microhistories: “how do you even know that??”
microhistory: the intensive historical investigation of a well defined smaller unit of research (such as an event, community, individual or a settlement); it aspires to "ask large questions in small places"

Non-Fiction: Gender, Feminism, Intersectionality
Different kinds of non-fiction books about gender, feminism, and related topics. People like black women or neurodivergent women are twice or more marginalised, and often it's not clear whether treatment was due to (for example) skin colour or perceived gender, so I'll add some books about other kinds of marginalisation as well. I haven't read all books (yet); if one is problematic, please tell me so in a comment!

It’s okay to judge a book by it’s cover!
Beautiful books for when your monthly reading roundup needs a little facelift 😉

A mix of non-fiction on drinking history and culture, and tried-and-true recipe books. I will only add a recipe book to this list if I have personally made three delicious cocktails from it and find the instructions clear and useful.
