I'm creating some lists for the 2026 bingo Goosie shared last week!! and of course I had to start with my beloved nonfiction genređ I'm taking inspiration from some AMAZING lists I have saved that have a ton of other books beyond just the history of niche subjects lol go check them out!!

I would recommend The Naming of the Shrew by John Wright. It looks like the one rating on PB is by someone who wasnât particularly interested in the history of taxonomy and Latin names, but as an evolutionary biologist Iâm really looking forward to reading it and think others might find it interesting đ

I really enjoyed it! And have convinced a classmate to read it for research for the fantasy mystery she is writing because one of her characters is a necromancy librarian lol
This is honestly exactly what I need to feed my obscure curiosities

if i'm allowed to give a recommendation, then maybe you should consider Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green!! it's medical related but it also covered the whole history of tuberculosis and how society construct a disease in a very interesting and amazing way!

Hi! I donât support John Green for several reason but mainly due to his comments about Palestine, but tysm for the recommendation, if you have any more recs I would love to check them out

Thank you for creating it :) May I recommend adding "Papyrus" by Irene Vallejo "The Secret Life of Stones" by Hettie Judah "Kindred" by Rebecca Wragg Skyes (Neanderthals) "The Golden Thread" by Kassia St Clair (fabric) There is also plenty of niche books about animals :)
