I'm the tomato lady now. Here's also some cool, history about other foods! Grab a snack and read! (shoutout @MadHoney for this idea)

I adore you, from my head tomatoes
I accept your perfections and your one flaw (eating raw plain tomatoes)
How else do you eat them if not in their best form??
With anything (a salad, on a sandwich, cooked) not raw like a heathen
That you didnât even mention with just ranch is why weâre gonna have to go to marriage counseling
I just want an excuse to be seen out in public with you đđ
You mean a nice juicy tomato straight from the garden with a little salt and pepper mmmm perfect
𤢠puking as I type
i agree
You eat raw plain tomatoes 𼚠omg ily
I'm just waiting for Fantasy to pop up and protest đ
I'm gonna quit PB over this
But then the Tomato lovers win
You know what, you're so right! DOWN WITH TOMATOES!!!
Yay ur a tomato lover tooooooo
Well, I wouldn't say that đ I do think eating tomatos like an apple is slightly feral behaviour, and would not eat just raw tomato like a snack, yet, i am pro chaos in all things. So I'm taking a more amused observer position in it all đ
Oh Meagan, you wound me. /hyp /j What is so feral about eating the earthâs ripe treasures just as nature intended? Who invented the tomato? And who invented the knife and fork?
(Read this in an airy dramatic way. Also playful)
Haha, I just think it's the juiciness of the fruit that does it. Especially imagining the redish juice dripping down one's chin đ I am, however, pro eating cherry tomatos like a grape, so there is that at least lol
It sounds like youâre just a messy eater :/ /t /j
But wooo to cherry tomato habits. Iâll give u a pass then đ
Lol, I speak as a witness to such outcomes, not as someone who has actually eaten a tomato like an apple đ
I appreciate the pass đ¤Ł
"Pro Chaos In All Things" should really be a t-shirt
Haha, Yes, Yes it should!
The first thing I did was also looking for Fantasy and she didn't disappoint đâ¨
I love how our legacies are connected â¤ď¸
â¨Starcrossed lovers, Tomato wars edition â¨
Love this! Sweetness and Power is one of my favorite books!! Also recommend The Core of an Onion by Kurlansky (he's just a fantastic writer), Garlic, an edible biography by Robin Cherry, Cooked by Michael Pollan, Cheese and Culture by Paul Kindstedt, The Book of Gin by Richard Barnett, and Extra Virginity: the Sublime and Scandalous World of Olive Oil by Tom Mueller.
I have lots more food books as well if you ever need more.
omg!! yes I will take all recs for this (and will be adding your suggestions too đŤśđź)!! the tomato book has been haunting me so I kinda meant this as a joke but then it became serious đ
Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver would be a great addition to this list, I think! It's not about any specific food, but about eating local foods in season! It's made me change my thinking so much about the foods that I buy, and where they're coming from. So much info about the global/environmental impact of the way our food systems work
Ooohh a great recommendation! Sounds fascinating, I will add it here (and to my TBR đ)
Bless you for feeding us đââď¸đ
funny enough, i'm typically not a pun gal, but it just feels right đââď¸
i love the tomatoes and i love this concept haha bill nye would definitely approve !
đââď¸ i'm only trying to be like him
I'm only trying to be like him. There we go, I fixed it đââď¸ /j
(I have to keep the joke going for the lore lol đ)
joke? 𤨠it is but the truth
Right, right. đââď¸ We know that, but Bill Nye has fooled most people by adding a "not" to their name. We have to keep up pretenses that notbillnye is "not" Bill Nye or we risk undermining the integrity of username logic.
Lmaoooo
Just rubbed my hands in glee opening up this comment section, and it did not disappoint đââď¸đđ˝ We love PB tomato lore đ
The PB inside jokes/lore go crazy đ (and I should know đââď¸)
đŤśđź the best part, the tomato book is part of my IRL lore too, this is all I am
god, i hope to one day be able to say a sentence that's even half as cool as this đŠđđ˝
I just came across this. Im so confused. The Pagebound tomato lore runs deeper than I thought. I think i need a comprehensive microhistory on this itself đđ
LOL the fact that there is tomato lore at all, is hilarious.
i just wanted people to read the tomato book!! i had no idea this would happen đ
Okay but I need to read that apple book rn
yes!!! i love this fruit history concept
omg this list just summarizes my husband's taste in books
Obviously he has great taste then đđťââď¸ lolol if you or he has any suggestions, Iâd love to hear âem!
"A History of the World in 6 Glasses" by Tom Standage comes to mind!
He loved Ten Tomatoes -- I heard a lot of tomato facts before bed due to that book.
Just added!! That's awesome to hear about Ten Tomatoes, I did the same thing with my partner đ¤Ł
This is fantastic! Have you heard of Eating to Extinction by Dan Saladino?
I hadnât!! Immediately added it to the list and holy shit Iâm gonna rearrange my monthly plan because I need to read this ASAP 𫢠thank you for this suggestion!!
Absolutely! I'm so excited to devour this whole list.
bon appĂŠtit đŠđťâđł
"Consider the Eel" Okay. I will consider the eel. Silly lil wiggly guys. Tasty when grilled with the right sauce. (Sorry, hehe. Felt like being silly)
This is actually a really neat list!! Cool theme, too.
I laughed when I added it because I was like, "okay tomatoes, orange, apple, bread... eel? wtf? eh, what the hell, I'll add". (they are quite delicious)
I did not make the list to bug Fantasy; that was just a bonus. đ
Hehehe, I love when things do two things :3
Whoâd have thought this list wouldâve provoked some of the funniest comments. @notbillnye @Fantasy
I was wanting to make a similar list bc I love when history has a super specific focus. Thanks for making!
Oh yay!! I think itâs a very cool part of history! Glad you like it âşď¸
The way PB has taken over my life đđ I just started making tomato soup and thought of this list + the tomato discussion HAHA Wanted to start the tomato book on audio for the vibes but it's sadly not available on my audiobook app đ
Heheheheheeh
NOOOO 𼺠Iâm so disappointed for you! BUT I absolutely love that you are 1) making tomato soup, yum, soup season is my fav and 2) that you thought of this list!! Hopefully one day. I swear itâs worth it đ
Soup season letsgoooo đââď¸đŤĄ
Definitely one day!! It's on my radar and I'm keeping my eyes wide open looking for a copy!
đ_đ <- me searching for a copy of the tomato book
đđ in all my internet days, I have never seen that face
Could be a sleep paralysis demon tbh đ
Just a fair warning, the salt book also goes into some questionable... topics concerning slavery, other cultures and "israeli superiority." linking my timestamped video source here it goes on until like 22 minutes.
OOP not on my list, absolutely tf not. Thank you for mentioning this! Deleting it now.
Looolll yall have good ideas love it
