So I’ve been wanting to get into reading poetry for a while, and I’ve always found it to be a hit or miss genre for me. For example, I couldn’t get into Amanda Gorman’s Call Us What We Carry but I really liked Shel Silverstein’s poems growing up and books Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse and Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds, both written in verse. I’d really love some poetry recommendations that are preferably short and easier to understand/get into. I don’t think I’m ready for classical poetry yet (😅), and would also really appreciate recommendations by authors of color!

Big no for me. Too many non-con things romanticised and the characters were annoying af

Found this on a random book trip and it caught my eye, the premise drew me in, and the fact that it's one longer narrative rather than chaptered fully intrigued me. Reading about the author's backstory is really what sold me though. Here's hoping that the translation does it justice, cause I sure don't know French, and it'd be so disappointing if the translation messes up the story itself.

Hi there! I was wondering if any of you could have any recommendations of mafia romances? I feel like I hadn't the best luck choosing them and normally happen two things: the characters are super plain and underdeveloped OR romanticising of huge non-con things happening. Thank you in advance! Gala xx

Very mid plot with weird sex scenes with absolutely no prep lmao

I feel like on TikTok and Instagram this has become a sensitive topic but do you think reading is inherently political? Or do you think politics should stay out of book discussions and overall reading?

I really enjoyed it! This was a cute cozy YA romcom with summery vibes. Rochelle accepts a mysterious job offer to work in a historic black-owned movie theater to round up her college application. On her training day she discovers she'll be working with her childhood friend turned to "rival" all summer long. I ate it up, I was giggling the whole book 🥰🥰

If you write something in other languages please be mindful and write it as it should be :( I'm partial to weird sounding formations in other languages but at least write the words ok
