I've been struggling with reading for years. As in, i don't think I finished a book other than audio books or a short story in maybe 2 years. Even books I really liked were just not gripping me.
Late September, I finally broke my slump. A friend recommended "The Thursday Murder Club" to me, and I'm now close to finishing the third book in the series. I feel like my "ability" to read has eroded so much, and I can tell I read a lot more slowly than I used to. BUT the important part is that I broke the slump!
What are books that have broken a slump for you, reinvigorated your love for reading, refreshed your joy, however you want to name it? Alternatively: which are books you think are great to get someone out of a slump?
I was thinking of making a themed list š„°

This poem is a very interesting snippet of moments during someoneās grief. I am going to leave my short interpretation of the poem in the forum. I listened to the audio narration by Dominic West while I read the poem, and really enjoyed this format.
Iāve not read any other of Poeās work but I really like this poem so I am looking forward to diving into more. Please share any recommendations on where to start with his work.

This was my first time interacting with the story of Dracula so I started this with little knowledge of the plot. It was actually spookier than I thought it would be and I expected there to be more scenes that included Dracula. The plot was quite slow at times, I feel like that might be because there were a few different character points of view we had to stay informed of and the letter/journal formatting. It was interesting reading to Bram Stokers version of vampire lore and comparing it against other works.
Edit: I keep thinking about it and I really wish Dracula was in more of the book. I think I would have liked it more that way.
Format: Audio

iāve read a fare share of classics and this has remained my favourite. while i wish we had a little more time in the castle, i adored following this story with the horror elements mixed in with many many elements that made me chuckle. iām not usually sold on vampire stuff and so was dubious of even picking it up but it was a compete winner for me. 5 stars

I like that Murderbot refers to the crew as "my humans". I don't know if this is a term of endearment (doubt it) or just the easiest way to communicate their relationship but there is something sweet about it. I smile every time I see it call them that. š Its relationship with the crew is so interesting.
