My sister asked me to read Braiding Sweetgrass two years ago, so obviously I’m reading this instead. The illustration on the cover is so cute ❤️ I’m hearing good things about this so i think I will like it

I think this is such a beautiful and inspiring read amidst so many online conversations about creating communities and around the Christmas time when it is so emphasised that you need to give gifts to every person in your life just because they gave you something.
It’s fairly similar to a conversation I had about how bartering was a lost art. People used to exchange a pair of shoes for two free mendings for clothes or something before the industrial revolution and it was more common than an exchange of monetary value in many communities.
