Recs if you like Valerin the Fair (Out of True, #1)...
so, you pulled the sword from the stone, now what?
were you a fan of BBC’s Merlin? did you like the King Arthur subplot of Once Upon a Time? have you ever dreamt about pulling a sword from a stone? this list of Arthurian inspired books is for you!
disclaimer: I have not read all of these books
as always, taking any and all suggestions!!
Oath of Pride
Queer knights, paladins, and slayers with a penchant for kneeling pathetically at the altar of their love. Oaths and yearning aplenty.
Speculative Trans (+nonbinary) Works
Works in the speculative, fantasy, science fiction, and horror genres by authors who are not cisgender! Two spirit, nonbinary, trans, genderfluid, and other gender diverse authors count!
Romantasy for the Queers!
Romantasy and romantic/erotic fantasy reads starring queer characters! (Recs are welcome, but I'd like to encourage uplifting queer authors first and foremost! For series, I'll just put book 1 unless they can be read as standalones!)
Sapphic Nonbinary Transmasc Books
Books with a transmasc/enby character with a love interest with a woman may be primary or minor romance and minor part of the story. But mostly just trying to create a list to read because most of the books I read with transmasc are romantically linked with men, so feel free to recommend or correct me.
Sapphic Knights & Bodyguards
Sapphic books where one or both of the main characters is a knight or a bodyguard.
women and enbies getting together
Stories with romantic and/or sexual plots between women and non-binary characters (including dynamics with more than 2 characters), across genres and age groups. 🔞
Recommendations welcome!
✦ I have not read all of these books - if you notice anything that seems to be mis-labeled/mis-placed on this list, please let me know! ✦
Go with the Gender Flow! (Genderfluid Characters)
here's a (currently short) list of books that have genderfluid characters as their MC or LI! I kept looking for lists like this, but mainly found ones for nonbinary characters in general, so I'm starting this from scratch with books I remember having genderfluid characters. All genres and audiences! [open to recommendations! all kinds of genderfluid identities allowed!]
Queer Indie Novellas
Novellas & novelettes (roughly 10-40k words or 40-200 pages) across genres by indie/self-pub authors featuring queer characters Many stories lean horror and/or erotic 🔞
Recommendations welcome!

Queer retellings of Arthurian stories
Green and Gay
"But green is the color of earth, of living things, of life." "And of rot." "Yes. Yes..." - The Green Knight (David Lowry, 2021). If it evokes the deep, green mystery of the woods and is also has some element of queerness (or reads as queer, in the case of the green knight), it's going on the list.
