Books that would help educate children about various important history topics, social justice issues, and people different from themselves (ie disabled, queer, or neurodivergent people).
Recommendations are always welcome! Fiction and nonfiction are fine. I would prefer more modern book recommendations. Iโd love if you could explain your reasoning for recommending a bit!

Stonewall: Mike Morgan & Larry Romans Award
The first and most enduring award for LGBTQIA+ books is the Stonewall Book Awards, sponsored by the American Library Association's Rainbow Round Table. Since Isabel Miller's Patience and Sarah received the first award in 1971, many other books have been honored for exceptional merit relating to the LGBTQIA+ experience.
