Books schools don’t usually teach (but should)

Books that would help educate children about various important history topics, social justice issues, and people different from themselves (ie disabled, queer, or neurodivergent people).

Recommendations are always welcome! Fiction and nonfiction are fine. I would prefer more modern book recommendations. I’d love if you could explain your reasoning for recommending a bit!

Love this idea!! I would recommend adding The Boy At The Back Of The Class by Onjali Q. Raúf read it a few time ago but I remember loving it. It talks about an refugee/immigrant boy facing different difficulties in a new country and school. And I think it really gives a new perspective on the theme and is a good learning experience. 🙃
