Recs if you like That Kind of Guy...

Books about asexuality, be they non-fiction or novels. Everyone should read at least one asexual book from time to time.

Rep is usually the main character but sometimes side characters. 🏳️‍🌈 ♠️

Yes, demi folks are included on this list!

whether for their partners pleasure or because they like the way it looks, have a metal detector handy.

Romance books featuring queer characters living with physical disabilities, mental health struggles, chronic illness, and/or neurodevelopmental conditions.

Note: If a series features the same MCs, I've only put the first book. If a series features different MCs, I've only listed the relevant book(s) in the series.

Be aware: list spans YA to erotica.

🚫 No "magical cure" tropes or "better dead than disabled" tropes welcome. No inspo porn.

Please leave any recs or concerns in the comments. 📝

Ace spectrum representation in fiction! We've got a little of everything - aroace, grayace, demi...my main condition for this list is that the ace character has to explicitly be asexual.

Recommendations welcome!

Stories featuring demi leads, for those of us who live vicariously through our books✨

Demisexuality may not be explicitly disclosed or outright discussed in these books; I did my best to find stories with a main lead that presents as demi. Recs are encouraged!!

these MCs have trauma they need to work through: parental neglect, absent mother, loss of a parent, emotional / physical / psychological ab*se, divorce. this list may be books that you want to read or those that you want to avoid - whichever applies to you, it’s here nonetheless. bonus points if the MCs partner/s help them work through their trauma.

Romance novels where the MCs are an MF couple that is straight-presenting, but one or both is/are queer

fiction books with disability, chronic illness, neurodivergence, and mental illness representation (usually written by Own Voices authors).

I’ve combined these categories because I’ve found they have impacted my life in similar ways and a lot of books include overlap 💗

Demisexual and Demiromantic rep in romance stories. Lots of queer stories because, let's be real, the community does a better job of creating stories that represent different types of characters and giving them their HEA. Plus, I think demisexual is part of the asexual bucket and thus part of the LGBTQ+ conglomerate.

Long live the "I need to know you as a person before I can feel sexual attraction to you" without purity, religious ethics, or pearl clutching being the backbone of that situation.
