Books about asexuality, be they non-fiction or novels. Everyone should read at least one asexual book from time to time.
Rep is usually the main character but sometimes side characters. đłď¸âđ

If I have missed your favourite ace read, please let me know so I can add it!
There seems to be (anecdotally) a large percentage of Ace Pagebounders so this feels like the perfect list for us!
I love that more people know that this is a thing and it isn't just them feeling different than other folks.
ooh as an ace i don't read enough books with ace characters, thank you for making the list!
You are absolutely welcome!
Ooo thank you!! There's a bunch of these I haven't heard of!
Lots of these are on my TBR, and lots I can vouch for. Others are more newly on my radar.
Iâve never been so proud to have a good amount of overlap on a list 𫡠and I will make it my mission to turn it into an even higher number đ
Yay, I love giving people missions!
questioning whether or not im ace so thank you !!
It is definitely a spectrum, and I hope these books help!
Nice list! I recommend these two additions:
Elatsoe by Darcie Little Badger
Ace: What Asexuality Reveals About Desire, Society, and the Meaning of Sex
(those are links!)
Both are already on there (and such good reads)!
Oh! Sorry! I missed hitting "view more" one last time!
No worries! I managed to make a super long list (happens often over here).
I needed this list. I love seeing ace rep! There is so many here that I hadn't seen
So happy you found the list!
Congrats on the nomination for the list-to-quest feature! I hope you get it!
Oooh, that would be lovely!
Oh my lord THANK YOU! This list looks amazing. Definitely adding tons of these to my tbr because I need more ace lit in my life!
Glad to help!
Anyone aware of any sex-favorable ace rep from the list or otherwise?
Aka Iâll count demisexual or ace-uninterested-in-sex-but-unopposed-to-it-or-participates-in-some-circumstances etc.
Been interested in exploring the nuance.
Preference for:
Do you mean sex-favorable? Because im actually not aware of any ace books/rep that are actually sex-negative and stay that way throughout the book. Sex-averse and sex-repulsed, though - yea. Though personally i come across more sex-favorable or at least sex-indifferent in romance fiction.
Oh my god, yes, youâre so right, Bahahaha! I didnât catch myself making this switch of language even though I know this shit. Yes! Sex-favorable. I think my brain stole sex-positive because it sounds more aligned with what Iâm looking for (even if itâs not the actual term definition) â characters who are not opposed to sex, and not sex repulsed, but not actively seeking it out or interested for themselves so much.
I know of a lot that meet the mlm/masc/enby request, but as i havent yet read them, i cant confirm their stance on participating in sex.
Of the ones i have read:
Iâll def stop back in this comment section as i confirm others!
Youâre amazing. đââď¸ itâs an area I donât often get (or expect) recs for and I appreciate them all. And you included details! Beautiful. â¨
Charm Offensive was recommended to me before, although it doesnât sound like my topic itâs on my radar, but good to double note it applies for this ask!
And - oh! Iâve read Boyfriends, no wonder it sounds familiar. Maybe time for a reread, although it was a it too unserious for me if I remeber right.
I love list comment sections! I just dont think to pop in them often lol.
The first to come to mind is Last First Kiss by Julian Winters.
Thanks! Iâve taken note.
I suggest
Saved so I can yoink every single book in this list. Thank you Kathy â (â-â )
You are so welcome!!
May I recommend Firebreak by Nicole Kornher-Stace? It's on my TBR but (according to the author) the protagonist is aroace!
Not Good for Maidens is perfect for this list! The present-day main character is ace.
Thanks so much!
Choir grrrl is a newly released book that has an ace character!!
Omg I love the cover! Adding now.
Unless I missed it, I didnât see Every Heart A Doorway by Seanan McGuire on this list. Itâs book one in a YA fantasy series. The main character of book one is ace. There is other representation also trans and queer representation. I found the plot really unique! It follows characters who each find a door into their perfect world (different for each of them) and then they accidentally came back to our world. The characters want to get back to the world they felt more at home in. Theyâre seen as crazy by their families and sent to a boarding school for kids like them. Each book follows a different character. I wish Iâd found it as a kid because I definitely felt like I didnât âbelongâ.
It is on there, very near the end of the list (9th from the end, but you have to hit the view more button a few times to get there). I really enjoyed the first few books in this novella series when it came out and one of these days I will make the time to do a reread/continue on, because there are so many books in the series now.
Oh sorry I missed it! Iâve read the first 3 and I think itâs such a cute series.
Oh no worries! There's lots to scroll.
As an asexual person who tries to read a lot of asexual books , may I recommend: The Meister of Decimen City by Brenna Raney (accidental evil villain releases rampaging dinosaurs)
Be the Sea by Clara Ward (Ocean voyage. Has asexual and demisexual rep as well as enby and just general queerness)
I enjoyed it but not sure I'd recommended it (deals with the struggles of being asexual and is pretty bleak and difficult to read): Portalmania by Debbie Urbanski
A Life in Too Many Margins by S.E. Thomson (disabled, trans writer writing about a disabled, trans character who is also revealed to be asexual)
Thanks so much, fellow ace! I've added all of these recs đ
