And I don't mean editions or anything. Mostly it's just that the first option is the title and the next option is the longer title. I usually choose the title for my shelves that have more reviews and posts, but I feel like this shouldn't be there, right? I am trying to understand how that happens, can we avoid this somehow and is there something I can do about it?

Alright, I think we’ve all seen the discourse around Kuang and the hate she gets, and then the amount of support she also receives. The fact that someone accused her of using AI when she has publicly spoken out against AI in creative spaces.
Any thoughts? I’m a Kuang fan but I understand why people wouldn’t like her writing style. I am very welcome to critiques to her writing, but sometimes the intense hate she gets I feel like is somewhat unwarranted.

Do you love stories that take place or revolve around magic academies/classes that aren't written by a TERF and aphobic author? Well, do I have the book list for you!

Hi everyone! I'm in my once every few months reading slump it seems, and I thought who better to help me out than the reading community? Does anyone have advice that helps them get out of a slump or a particular book genre they go to? In the past I've tried romcoms and that's helped but I'm a little rom-commed out. Any other suggestions?

I have been seeing a lot of discourse regarding book cover preferences lately. I wonder if anyone has ever gotten the ick from a book cover? If so, did you still read the book, or was it an immediate no thank youuuu?

i'm doing the current tiktok trend where you make a syllabus based on a topic you're really interested in. i want to read more about "monsters", who makes them and how they're made. does one become a monster because of their creator's intentions or because of their own monstrous action? i'm currently reading mary shelley's frankenstein (1818 text) (monster born from hubris) and just finished monstrilio (monster born from grief). i think "when the wolf comes home" also fits (monstrous actions AND creations). please rec me any book you think fits what i'm looking for!

Dramatic battles, tense political intrigue, unique world building...and is that maybe some romance I'm sensing? These books are not Romantasy but focus primarily on the SFF elements. Romance is a subplot and may not appear until later in the series, but when it does, you won't be disappointed.

Hello! I’m so thrilled you’ve joined the Haunted House Horror Quest!
There’s just something so great about good haunted house story and I'm so glad I was able to create this quest to be able to discuss it more with all of you! What I love about haunted house books is that they're never just about creaky staircases, shadowy hallways, or things that go bump in the night but they often explore grief, trauma, guilt, family secrets, and the ways the past refuses to stay buried. The house itself often becomes some sort of metaphor or explanation, sometimes it doesn't haha. Sometimes the horror is supernatural, sometimes it’s human, and sometimes it’s a bit of both.
When I pulled this list together, I really tried to include a variety like the classics you think of when you think haunted house story, modern spins that add freshness, and a few hidden gems you might not have come across yet. If the book is part of a series, you’ll only see the first one here to keep things manageable.
And of course, this is just a starting point. Please share your own haunted house favourites in this post so we can keep the forum itself from getting cluttered. I’ll keep adding them if they fit the quest!
So grab a flashlight, ignore the strange noises upstairs, and let’s see which haunted stories linger with us the longest..

I was just in the comments of another post where book pairings got mentioned and it made me curious how many other people do this! I love pairing books to read together to enhance my understanding of each by providing additional context.
Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe with Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was such a great and heavy pairing showing 2 stories of lives impacted by colonialism in Nigeria.
Skin of the Sea by Natasha Bowen with The Deep by Rivers Solomon was an interesting pairing - the same topic of duty to the souls lost during the Transatlantic slave trade is approached very differently yet both with care and feeling- the first being a YA and the latter being a literary fiction.
So what book pairings do you recommend? Which books enhance your reading of other books?
