Post from the I, Robot (Robot, #0.1) forum
This is already surprising me. I was expecting it to feel a lot older than it does. The language and conversation around robots pretty much exactly reflects current conversations about AI.

I've seen this recommended a lot and was really hoping for something more intersectional than this is. Her rejection of enforced gender roles while pushing the ideas of an inherent difference between men and women feels counterintuitive. I was unsurprised to see her history of transphobic remarks after looking a little more into it. I think its length, language an narrative style make it an accessible reading for people, but I didnât really find it revolutionary, especially for when it was written.

After reading the book I decided to watch the show and it's excellent so far! I'm in episode 3 and it feels very book accurate. Did anyone else watch it? Did you like it?

Happy Saturday (or whatever day you're viewing this), horror fiends and newbies! I would love to make this quest interactive and so far, y'all have been great! Y'all have given me great books recommendations and I've loved seeing everyone's introductions thus far. And yes, I've read everything, even if I haven't responded directly to your comment.
I want to talk about readalongs with you all -- more specifically how often and how long. We can do the traditional seasonal readalongs (winter one starts December 1 and goes to the end of February) where we read one book together during a 3 month period and keep up with PB's flow but we can also customize it to what y'all are comfortable with. So here are the options:
1.) We do classic seasonal readalong described above 2.) We still do one every 3 months but it's only for a month long period (or alternatively, a 3 week period) during the seasonal period 3.) Either of those two options above BUT instead of it being seasonal months, it would go by the calender year so Jan - March, April - June, July - Sept, and Oct - Dec. This would cause our readalong to start in January of 2026.
I'm thinking of starting us off with Pet by Akwaeke Emezi because it's on the less extreme side of horror and it's fairly short (under 250 pages). In the future, would you like me to give y'all a handful of choices to vote on or would you prefer me to decide on the book (I will not be throwing y'all into the deep end of extreme horror đ).
Please give me any opinions or commentary you're feeling đ«¶đœ
Also, stay safe out there everyone!
