what an incredibly atmospheric first chapter! the dryness felt so foreboding and the descriptions of the dust got me feeling claustrophobic. i actually felt myself exhaling with the characters when the wind finally stopped; i cannot wait to read more!

anti-zionist jewish authors to support 💠
although i am not jewish myself, i believe thoroughly that zionism is not a requirement for judaism and therefore it must be accepted to proudly support jewish voices against the genocide. here are some books by anti-zionist authors to support this jewish american heritage month and beyond!

I see there is a 2 hour movie of this book made in 2025. It’s available on my library Kanopy app. I’m a fan of watching a movie right after reading a book so I’m happy!

Does anyone know of any books about older navigational techniques? Like the use of dead reckoning, sextants, maritime chronometers, etc. I've become really curious about it all, how it was done as well as the maths behind it, after reading some nonfiction books where it was relevant.

A coffee table book of colorful bodies expertly posed in ways that create completely different species, or still art scenes. Toes become fish fins, arms and legs interlock, outstretched, and are reimagined as a bird’s plume or a blossoming flower. Originally drawn to check this out for its performing arts + photography appeal, I found my imagination awakened in contemplative interpretation.
