A story of a manchild who never learned impulse control, blaming it on the human condition. Im repulsed and intrigued

SUCH a good book ohmygod !!!!!!!! The ending was perfect!!!
I love how they do nonlinear storytelling, the switch between the relatively mundane days of becoming an astronaut and the great Incident of 1984 infuses the book with such palpable tension!
I also love how the love story was written!! The denial and gradual acceptance of Joan was perfectly executed and the pining of her love interest was just chefs kiss!!
Also how the story focuses on them on every part of their relationship makes me feel for the characters so much! It makes everything they say to each other so realistic and deep and tearjerking.
I also completely understand why they would fall for each other! Theyre real people with real characters and qualities and strengths and weaknesses and the way they know each other so so well in 1984 is just soooo beautiful.
This book generally has a big ensemble of well written female characters!! Everyone is so so different but still have such consistent internal motivations. I could understand everyone eventho they make me go mad.
Joan also goes through a subtle but noticable character arc that I think was done amazingly and believably.
100% recommend if you want to cry tears of all types of emotions!!!
