in honor of disability pride month, here is a series on the colours of the flag! our second colour on the disability pride flag is blue, which represents psychiatric disabilities and mental illnesses. numerous examples of those include bipolar disorder, depression, general anxiety disorder, PTSD, PMDD, selective mutism, dissociative identity disorder, and many more. books within this list series will be both fiction and non-fiction literature. as always, feel free to recommend any books!

Mostly Asian healing books about comforting stores that can help people heal

An on-going attempt to track Asian authors in my Interested/TBR (and hopefully Finished) categories. Books are generally fiction/lit fic/fantasy with some memoirs. Authors span West to East Asia, the Asian diaspora, and mixed-race folx.

TLDR : magical realism with emphasis on the magical My own niche microgenre bc I'm a snob! Fantastical realism pushes the boundaries of magical realism, just bordering that edge into fantasy but still holding onto a grounding tree branch in realism. 🚧work in progress, always accepting recs🚧

my ideal bedtime read because I will stay up until 3 am if I get too invested in or anxious/stressed about a plot

Not restricting this list to only Korean or Japanese authors, although most of them are. Some books may not be translated into English

sunny settings, or books that feel sunny and offer escapism from the winter blues in an eclectic blend of genres.

Editing to add: okay some of these books are SAD, my dudes, just like my seasonal affective disorder. But at the same time, they are soft and kind and a safe place for the big sad, if that makes sense?
