Elevator Pitch

Elevator Pitch

Evelyn Leigh

Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

After ending a 5 year relationship and choosing herself, Selah Bailey has grown rather comfortable with being alone. She decides a fresh start in a new city is just the change she needed. What better place than New York City, the home of her beloved book club. Selah, an anxious, risk-averse, homebody determined to finally become the main character in her own story, creates a “F*ck It List” filled with goals and experiences to force her out of her comfort zone and introduce her to a life outside of her front door. Realizing she’ll need a partner to help her complete her more adventurous goals, she goes on a few dates in hopes of breaking her dry spell and making a dent in her list. After what may be the worst date ever, she meets Greyson Park in the elevator of her building. Greyson is everything she wasn’t prepared for and could be the perfect hero for her story. Except falling in love isn’t on the list and she should probably leave the house to find it.

I received this book as an ARC (my first ever ARC, I'm so honored!!) and I REALLY liked it.

Selah is 2 years out from leaving an abusive relationship and she's spent those two years working on herself, developing professionally and personally, and dare I say- she's starting to thrive? Greyson is a divorced dog-dad and creator/founder of a dating app. When Greyson meets Selah while waiting for the elevator in their apartment building, he decides he's going to help her mark things off her "Fuck It List", a.k.a. her bucket list of tasks to help take her life back into her own hands. Their romance was so sweet and fun but also spicy!!

    Things I loved:
    -A diverse cast of characters
    -Neurodivergence representation
    -Mental health representation
-Selah's mom was EVERYTHING. She was so great, and she was all in on Selah's relationship with Greyson right from the beginning. I kind of wish she was my mom just for the laughs.
-Rome (Audrey's S/O) and Eric (Audrey's bodyguard) participating in the girls' spicy book club and always being down to gossip about the other girls' relationships/dates/hookups. I love when a guy is "just one of the girls".
-Not going to spoil it, but the scene where Greyson saves Selah from a crappy date had me laughing out loud.
-Goooood character growth/development even from side/secondary characters and lots of vulnerability/relationship building. I absolutely love when men who are friends tell each other they love them :)
-Was that a Highest Bidder by Sara Cate reference I saw??? As a Sara Cate STAN I was giggling and kicking my feet when I realized.
-I NEED an Alex/Elena book. IYKYK.

Things I didn't love so much:
-Audrey and Roman (Rome) are side characters and friends of Selah, but the way Selah describes them and their background when they are first introduced, I honestly felt like I was supposed to be reading the second book in a series and had missed the first one about Audrey & Rome. Maybe we'll get their story one day?
-As a personal opinion, some of the parts of the writing style just weren't for me. I felt like there was a lot of summarizing/telling the reader about things that happened instead of showing it. Parts of the story relied more heavily on internal narration than on the actual dialogue between characters "She tells me X and I tell her about Y.", "we talked about A, B, C." I would have personally liked to see more of those conversations develop and take place on page, especially because I felt like the chemistry and the banter between the characters was SO GOOD when it was actually written out. I wanted more of it.
-*Minor Spoiler* I really didn't like Greyson's ex-wife, Aileen, or their relationship. They stayed friends post-divorce and it's been SEVERAL years, but she chooses to breakdown and apologize on the day she's marrying someone new?? After inviting Greyson to all the pre-wedding events and the wedding itself?? I just didn't like it, and she seemed like she had unresolved issues. On a related note, I thought for a grown-ass man, Greyson was kind of a baby about his birthday.

Overall, the things I loved out-weighed the things I didn't and I would still definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a sweet yet spicy read. I'm so excited for Greyson and Selah's story to be released to the public in a few short days!

Elevator Pitch was evveeryythiinng! Greyson and Selah’s dynamic *chef’s kiss*. Selah didn’t need to go look too far for love—it found her right in the middle of apartment lobby!

Greyson Park? Yeah, he's top-tier book boyfriend material—no contest (maybe a bit of contest lol). He’s not just smart and successful, but also respectful of Selah's boundaries. The way he gave her space while still being the perfect partner-in-crime for her Fuck It List was everything!

And Selah? That’s my girl! Her journey to push herself out of her comfort zone not only with her list, but little things in her routine is something I think so many of us can connect with. As someone who constantly struggles to step out of my own head, I totally felt her anxiety and hesitation. She’s awkward, overthinks, and still finds a way to get out there and live. Her support system? Absolutely crucial to her growth, and it made the whole story feel even more authentic. It’s always amazing to see characters with solid friends and family backing her up. Everyone needs like group of people who do not play about them!

If you’re in the mood for a romance that’s filled with heart, personal growth, and the perfect mix of tension and respect, this one is a must-read!

Thank you GoodGirls PR for the arc copy!
