Bridgerton meets The Bachelor in this queer regency romance of a vampire competing for the heart of a duke. After being run out of his castle by vampire hunters, Count Lucian encounters the god of vampires, Vrykolakas, while in hiding. Unhappy with how many vampires have been bested by hunters, Vrykolakas gives Lucian a test: Infiltrate the future duke’s marriage games as a suitor and uncover the clandestine vampire hunters Vrykolakas suspects lurk in their midst. The god strips Lucian of his immortality so he can walk amongst mortals―making him human for the first time in centuries. If Lucian succeeds, Vrykolakas will make him the most powerful vampire in existence, but if he fails, the god of vampires will torture him for the rest of his life. Unfortunately, Lucian isn’t prepared for the emotions that come with humanity, nor the treacheries of courting season with fellow nobles posing as friends, enemies, and wholly unsuitable romantic

I received this book from NetGalley.

This was a very fun read! I loved the concept of mixing the bachelor and bridgerton but throw in vampires and queerness. Truly an incredible combination of things. I really enjoyed watching the competition progress and see our MC learn more about his competition. I would absolutely love a spinoff of Violetta and Isabel, I was so invested in them the whole book.

Overall, it was very fun and had a lot going for it! I don’t think it was a perfect book by any means but it scratched the spooky itch this month and some new characters to get invested in!

Thank you Colored Pages Book Tours and Page Street YA for the gifted copy of this book! All thoughts are my own!

This book was an honest delight. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. I usually struggle with historical fiction, but the romance and fantasy aspects added so much to it that the historical aspect of it actually enhanced it, too. I loved everything about this book. From the side characters, to the redemption arcs, to the romance all around, I was hooked from the beginning and it didn't stop until the last word! I definitely recommend this book!
