Recs if you like Mary...

a collection of autistic coded characters in fiction [ recommendations welcome! ]

Books where cults are a significant part of the narrative. Some fiction, some non-fiction.

There will be no one breasting boobily anywhere here.

Some criteria:

• women characters should be multidimensional with their own goals, agendas, and flaws
• the main character should be a woman, and there should be at least one other female character who is significant to the plot
• women characters’ role should not be defined solely by her relationship to a man
• author is a cis man
• one book per author

Let’s hold male authors to a higher standard because it is possible.

the gurls NEED to read horror books 💋 i wouldn’t say these are all horror but that’s left to the reader to make that assumption

the people of this town love halloween so much they celebrate it twice a year

Botanical horror is great and all, but have you ever thought about all the horrors scuttling beneath the leaves?

Horror that features bugs (insects and arachnids - argue about whether shellfish should be involved in the comments) as a major antagonist.

Weird, mostly girlys going through different unique life adventures. Supporting girlies (the girls, theys and thems) rights and wrongs. Regina George screaming down her hallway into her room hunting down the Burn Book

All the towns or cities in these books deserve a detour. Some probably even a quarantine. From bizarre creatures to cosmic weirdness to simmering malevolence to just plain human absurdity, these stories have it all. If you can’t keep driving, just remember, don’t drink the water

Weird, gory, and or disturbing. We support women's wrongs here.

a little bit of horror, some insanity, some delusions, some gore, some gothic. we don’t exclude over here

don't you want to become a cult leader? there's something especially unsettling about one person who can effectively manipulate an entire group of people. even more so when it's something that could happen to any one of us. tread carefully as you explore these reads, they may just adopt you into their 'family' 🧟

Books where cults are a big part of the story. Mostly fictional horror books 🤡

will anybody love me when i'm older?

Crime, obsession, feminine rage etc 🩷

Come to the cult side, we have cookies (and trauma).

Stephen King is overrated, read these horror books instead.

💬OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS. Just comment and I will add.

Female protagonists (or antagonists) who bring a burning rage, iron will, or anything they damn well please to the plot.
