Basically, a huge list of every book I ever heard features sapphic characters.

I have not read all of these, so I cannot be sure of the amount of the time on page of the sapphic characters or of the quality of the books.

Some of these I do not plan to read at all, since they are not my style. If you feel like a book doesn't belong here, let me know.

Focused on stories with beautiful prose, depth, and explore the intricate realities of the LGBTQ+ experience. Sub-genres could range from historical, contemporary, science fiction, magical realism, and classics (even romance!).

Books with sapphic characters at their center!

This list includes books where the character's queerness is clear, not merely suggested. The sapphic characters have to be central to the story.

The genres go beyond romance, expanding to historical fiction, fantasy, poetry, graphic novels, horror, non-fiction & more.

reading diversely is not a trend. it’s the bare minimum. and if your shelves don’t reflect that, you’re missing out.

Lives of outsiders rendered in sharp prose style. Descendants of Shelley, the Brontes, and Woolf; forebears to 'Weird Girl Lit'. Title refers to the authors, the subjects of the work may not always be women. Focused on novels published between WW2 and 9/11, with a few memoirs and short story collections.

Classics (modern and old) of all genres that featured Queer characters or storylines or notable queer subtext. Inspired by my lecturer's statement regarding my lit degree reading list: "You don't have to be queer to be a Modernist, but it sure helps!"😂 Please comment recs so I can keep adding to this!
