Are you open to suggestions? On the chance that you are, I have a little list of suggestions mainly based on the fact that Yukio Mishima is up there so maybe translations to English is okay?

Prince Serebrenni by Tolstoy published in 1862. Joseph and His Friend by Bayard Taylor published in 1870. Better Angel by Forman Brown published in 1933. Wings by Mikhail Kuzmin published in 1905. A Domestic Animal by Francis King published in 1970. Gaywyck by Vingent Virga published in 1980 (allegedly the first gay gothic romance, and also recently had a reprint). Forbidden Colors by Yukio Mishima published in 1951.

Sorry for the delay had to look these up! These are all amazing recs!

I haven’t come across them, looking at them I think these would fit for sure:

Joseph and His Friend Wings Forbidden colors Gaywyck Domestic Animal

The other two I think I’d have to read first! But huge thankyou for taking the time to to these! 🫶🏻

Cat on a Tin Roof - Tennessee Williams (play) is the only title missing from my queer lit (classics) course from college that I can remember atm. I'll be back regardless.

Oh! And he mentioned At Swim Two Boys (O'Neill), and I'm pretty damn sure Dracula (Stoker) came up. Time to find my notes...

Wow so jealous you got to study it! Thats amazing This has been pure interest of mine from generally liking the classics (usual suspects) and then personally wanting to find the queer ones! These look like great recs Thankyou for going through your study notes, that’s amazing!

I’ve chosen to include Carmilla over Dracula and stone butch blues is in one of my other quests which is mainly queer memoirs (which i think Zami may be better falling in too but have not read so for sure adding that to my TBR).

Think Dykes to lookout for actually may also fit better in my history list looking at the history of the comic strip ☺️

Angels in America looks like a good shout for this one so will get round reading soonish.

Thanks for the recs, really appreciate the sharing especially as you’ve done a course!🫶🏻

Of course! Although, I didn’t get around to my course notes, actually haha. Still need to find. I’m just familiar with this area. I wasn’t an english major/minor but I got a LGBTQ Studies minor specifically so I could take all the queer english courses 🤭

That’s so cool! Which was your favourite queer classic to go over? I’ve literally been hitting up all the queer book places around me and talking to their owners, it’s been so fun to kind do that extra digging!
