long-distance running demands consistency in the face of change, endurance in times of difficulty, and the willingness to keep growing in increments rather than quick wins. it also demands honesty — to bare yourself to yourself and make room for rest when it is needed. we run on our own, but we never run alone.

Maybe you want an athlete’s memoir, a literary drama, a sports romance, a mystery, an endurance adventure, a manga, or a book about the science and culture of sport - we have it all! This is not a comprehensive list of all niche genres, but a little map of the many ways sport can show up in literature.
