books about running (more on the philosophical side than the biomechanical). recs welcome!
long-distance running demands consistency in the face of change, endurance in times of difficulty, and the willingness to keep growing in increments rather than quick wins. it also demands honesty — to bare yourself to yourself and make room for rest when it is needed. we run on our own, but we never run alone.

Love this list and so happy I finally found it! I have looked at many more running related books since commenting on your originally post, particularly Smile, or You’re Doing it Wrong by Andy Glaze seems like it might be a good addition! Glaze is a crazy endurance runner that I’ve followed for years and his memoir dives deeper into the traumatic childhood that lead him down the ultra running path. Very excited to get my hold in 🙂↕️

thank you, and thanks for the rec! sounds perfect, added!
Ohh, that one sounds soo good! Yoinked it immediately!
I love how the majority of the books here have a word and then : with an undertitle ig. I know it's common for non-fiction, but I just thought it's kinda funny how most of them are that similar in that aspect! Have you read some or all of these and have specific favs? The murakami book is already on my tbr :)

oh true! most of these were sourced from the community so i haven’t read them yet, apart from What I Talk About When I Talk About Running, which I quite enjoyed! next on my list is Run with the Wind
Cool! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed What I Talk About When I Talk About Running, I for sure want to pick that up soon!

thanks to the community for this wellspring of motivation 🫶
