Memoirs where the audiobook is narrated by the author

Ah yes, this ol' issue that has plagued librarians and bookstore clerks for decades.

And sometimes you find the right book, but... can you even call that shade blue?

full-cast audio dramas have their place, and celebrity narrators are fun to recognize, but sometimes it's better to hear it in the author's voice, literally.

Audiobooks where the author narrates themselves (or is apart of a cast, not just some preface type stuff) Open for suggestions

Books that really should be read via audiobook instead of physical/digital copy. Production, narrator, experience all top tier. Memoirs narrated by the authors.

Mostly memoirs, mostly celebrities. Books where listening to the author read it can add so much to the stories because they can convey the exact tone that they intended.

I beg you please start reading celebrity memoirs! They are: A. Super fun B. A great source of gossip C. Supporting the publication of lesser known authors (explained more in the comments)

These Diverse Baseline Challenge was created by @bookish.millennial & @themargherita.s (on instagram). In 2025, the goal is to read 1 book by a racialized author each month. This challenge is meant to encourage readers to try genres they historically don’t reach for, find new-to-them racialized authors, and to encourage reflection on our reading habits.
