Books that blend the magic of fantasy with real world history (i.e., books set within actual historical time periods and not inspired-by settings). Feedback and recs welcome!

whether it's straight-up Jane Austen retellings, set in an alternative regency-era England, or a whole new world that has those prim and proper vibes, these books all introduce magic, spells, and perhaps even a bit of whimsy into the familiar regency setting (may also contain Victorian or Gregorian-era like fantasy novels, since they can have a lot of overlap in vibes!)

Romantasy and romantic/erotic fantasy reads starring queer characters! (Recs are welcome, but I'd like to encourage uplifting queer authors first and foremost! For series, I'll just put book 1 unless they can be read as standalones!)

Alternatively, these are books I’d recommend to each Dropout cast member if given the opportunity to do so! I’ll be including a legend in the comments to clarify which book goes with each person. I went through all the books in the romance quest tab and here are all the ones where at least one of leads is in a relationship that is not "man and woman falling in love with each other." F/F, M/M, F/NBi, M/NBi, NBi/NBi, etc. Largely motivated by wanting to figure out which romance book quests I had a chance of getting the badges for. If I missed any, let me know. Neurodivergent rep here includes autism, adhd, ocd or dyslexia. In addition the term neurodivergent also includes anyone who’s neurological processing works in a way that isn’t considered typical; such as various personality disorders, other sensory issues and depending on who you ask also depression, ptsd, and more. I’ve included all here when I find them.
