Urgently seeking suggestions, any and all input is welcome! A list for men in sci-fi/fantasy who are pathetic, reminiscent of kicked dogs, described as poor little meow meows, drowning in their own emptiness, and/or generally have an intense aura of being a sad loser with no life. Having a capacity to be fixed is entirely optional. If you want to demonstrate why a man is a loser, feel free to do so at great length in the comments so that we all may further our studies in male patheticology.

Historical fiction books with queer characters

books that blend the magic of fantasy with real world history. only criteria is that books are set within actual historical time periods and not inspired-by settings.

"Place as character" is usually reserved for lush descriptions that bring environments to life, and less often used for environments that have a life of their own. This list includes houses, homes, castles, spaceships, anywhere people will spend time and call home. Not meant to include haunted houses, but a case could be argued for specific ones. c:

whether it's straight-up Jane Austen retellings, set in an alternative regency-era England, or a whole new world that has those prim and proper vibes, these books all introduce magic, spells, and perhaps even a bit of whimsy into the familiar regency setting (may also contain Victorian or Gregorian-era like fantasy novels, since they can have a lot of overlap in vibes!)

Romantasy and romantic/erotic fantasy reads starring queer characters! (Recs are welcome, but I'd like to encourage uplifting queer authors first and foremost! For series, I'll just put book 1 unless they can be read as standalones!)

Alternatively, these are books I’d recommend to each Dropout cast member if given the opportunity to do so! I’ll be including a legend in the comments to clarify which book goes with each person. I know I’m missing people, so if you have a good suggestion for a book recommendation that goes with someone I haven’t already mentioned, please share!

I went through all the books in the romance quest tab and here are all the ones where at least one of leads is in a relationship that is not "man and woman falling in love with each other." F/F, M/M, F/NBi, M/NBi, NBi/NBi, etc. Largely motivated by wanting to figure out which romance book quests I had a chance of getting the badges for. If I missed any, let me know.
