fantasy murder mysteries yayy

in honor of disability pride month, here is a series on the colours of the flag! our third colour on this flag is white, which highlights invisible or undiagnosed disabilities. examples of some of these are ehlers danlos syndrome, chronic illnesses, MECFS, long covid, fibromyalgia, POTS, ulcerative colitis, IBS, and more. books within this list will be fiction and non-fiction. as always, feel free to recommend books which you feel should be added to this list.

What more could you need?

Books with LGBTQIA+ characters that also feature ghosts, spirits, or death-adjacent characters 🪦✨️

Feel free to comment your recommendations!

fun/casual lgbt books. predominantly contemporary romance, trying to avoid lit fic. more for when i am looking for a palette cleanse.

Chronic illnesses, physical disabilities, and invisible disabilities

My favourite fiction books with officially autistic and/or ADHD, or autistic and/or ADHD coded characters. Will only put first books for a series. Will add YA if I feel it's enjoyable for adults who don't read much or any YA. "Non official" neurodivergence means we are interpreting, which is always subjective. Criticism can be left in the comments. If you want to recommend a book, you're also welcome to do so in a comment. I will update this list as more favourites come up :)

These books have lgbt+ representation in them even if sometimes it's not the main focus or the leading couple. It's important to me to have a list that has variety and of not just stories about love but also those exploring gender identity and about those who don't experience love the same way like asexuals and aromatics. So far thare's a lot of sapphic books as well as quite a few books w/transgender mc's.

a definitely not exhaustive list of books containing ghosts, ghost hunters (professional and amateur) and those that can see them/are haunted by them. this list contains middle grade, YA and adult fiction.

for those of us who grew up loving Casper and never quite moved on.

recs welcome🫶

List of books with queer representation AND mystery. Can be murder mystery but not necessarily! (ps : I haven't read all the books in this list so if they suck it's not because I have bad taste)

books that are either based on irish mythology, based in ireland and/or written by irish authors

Fiction books that outright tackle misogyny, or have feminist undertones. For every reader out there who's tired of being met with toxic/misogynist behaviour in stories that is presented as acceptable, or even romantic, and those who want to learn about the female perspective. (For more horrory books, see my list "Feminist Horror", for YA, see my list "Feminist YA".)

"we are the weirdos, mister!" a collection of books that feature witches in whatever setting they seem to find themselves in. from magical realism to the outright fantastical you will find all types of witches on this list! (books featured are ones that i have personally read so the list will continue to grow! please do send me recommendations to add to my tbr!)

queer detective stories

1-800-ouija at your service! 🔮 books that feature one or more of the following; ghosts, psychic mediums, a séance scene. (please recommend any books that fit this criteria for me to add onto my tbr! ✨)
