disability pride - psychiatric disabilities
in honor of disability pride month, here is a series on the colours of the flag! our second colour on the disability pride flag is blue, which represents psychiatric disabilities and mental illnesses. numerous examples of those include bipolar disorder, depression, general anxiety disorder, PTSD, PMDD, selective mutism, dissociative identity disorder, and many more. books within this list series will be both fiction and non-fiction literature. as always, feel free to recommend any books!

"Give Me A Chance To Bleed, I Can't Be Hercules"
Inspired by the song "Hercules" by Livingston! :) These are books with characters that realized they couldn't be the "Hercules" or the strong and/or "perfect" person that everyone, even themselves, wanted them to be. My interpretation includes, but isn't limited to: breaking societal standards, coming out as lgbtq+, fighting being misunderstood by family and friends, both external and internal pressure to be the best, and the battle of physical and mental illness.
Unperfect & realistic Mental Health Representation
Sometimes mental illnesses in Books are a little bit romanticised. When we want to destigmatise Mental Health, we need more books that are a window to the reality of millions of people all around the world.
