fantasy murder mysteries yayy

less of the usual culprits if you please!

red tape but make it fantasy

Fantasy which exists within the confines of an elaborate hierarchical society, often with lots of rules attached. Lots of crossover with historical fiction and historical fantasy; might be good for fans of Austen, Wilde, &c!

This is the novels, novellas, novelettes (if they exists on Pagebound), first book of the series and one book from the best author that are nominated for a Hugo Award in 2026. I personally need an overview on what to catch on for the votes (closing beginning of August :))

Fantasy with elements of crime, detective, or noir fiction; sometimes known as Occult Detective Fiction.

Books for those who like things on the smaller side. Many genres welcome.

Books which don't treat you like you're an idiot, and trust you to engage with them; complex naming conventions, elaborate worldbuilds, large casts of characters, narrative tricks, beautiful prose, heavy intertextuality.
