Recs if you like Little Mushroom: Judgment Day...

One of several Non-Humans & Empathy -themed lists by @Myth.Ink (See also: Non-Fiction, GNs/Manga+, Youth Titles, Creature Feature, & the Official @Myth.Ink Curation) | This list is the FICTION-realistic edition, including fictional interactions and considerations of interactions between plausibly realistic non-human beings of all types (trees, robots, animals, ai, aliens, objects, science-experiment beings, etc) and humans, empathy and lack thereof. | Suggestions more than welcome!

All the volumes licensed in English that I could find on here. I've added ones I couldn't find whenever possible, and did my best to select the correct editions.

This is a list of Mushroomcore related books! We have everything from horror, to cozy and fantasy/sci-fi. This is the era of Spontasy (Fantasy), Spomance (Romance) and other genres too. Essentially it's time for the mushroom goblins to take over the world

This list contains the first volume of several popular series from danmei subgenres such as: wuxia, xianxia, cultivation, omegaverse, infinite flow, e-sports, etc.

This list is just a point to start from if you want to dip your toes into Danmei 🥰

I’m an international fan, so this list prioritizes works that have been published in English and that are popular in international spaces. I’ve not read all these, but I’m certainly gonna try!!

I’m always open to feedback <33

Queer & trans stories in apocalyptic or post-apocalyptic worlds

First of a series only

Sister list to: Zombies, but make it Queer

As always, suggestions incredibly welcome!

☣

Note: Not specifically a list of good LGBTQ+ representation (though many of them absolutely are, and many are written by queer and/or trans authors!). But I haven't read all of them (yet), so this list doesn't inherently imply my recommendation, as such

A list of Danmei and Baihe novels officially published in English. Note: Danmei/Baihe are same sex fiction books from China (MM/FF) Only first volumes of series will be listed here~

I'm a human. Just like you. I walk like you, talk like you...I'm just like you...Right? Books where a main character is not entirely human and/or is an alien, monster, spirit, eldritch horror, etc. who has disguised themself as a human. Do they want to be human? Or do they want to eat humans? Or some secret third thing? Who knows? You decide. (Please comment your suggestions!)

gay chinese novels

Cozy, Horror, Mystery, Adventure, Romance. As long as the book has shrooms as a major plot point, there is a place for it in this list.

All the volumes licensed in English that I could find on here. I've added ones I couldn't find whenever possible, and did my best to select the correct editions. This is a modified version of my existing Danmei Officially Published in English, but this one only includes the first volume of each series. (Someone asked I make this version, so here we are. :D )

For those who have wandered close but yet to sink into this rabbit hole:

"Danmei (耽美) is a Chinese literary genre that focuses on romantic relationships between male characters."

read a few, and keeping an eye on the rest 👀 I'll be editing the list as I go! please feel free to suggest any additions 🌸

Inexhaustive list of danmei novels 👑

Happy International Non-Binary People's Day! Here's a pile of books that our rec list contributors love that feature non-binary representation (some explicit, some subtextual/interpreted - so your interpretation may differ, and that's okay!). (This list is presented by Duck Prints Press, the indie publisher focused on publishing queer art and stories by queer creators! A group of us collaborate to make these recommendations.)

✧ [现代]: a sub-genre in danmei that sets its narratives in the contemporary era. the themes in this sub-genre are the most diverse; from sci-fi [科幻] to slice of life [日常向] going through criminal investigations [刑侦], all of them always revolve around the love story of the two main characters.

note: if there's any modern danmei title missing please do let me know!

(personal list of danmeis i have read or am currently reading)

Danmei books feature romantic relationships between male characters. Some danmei take place in a modern setting but it's much more common to see historical fantasy danmei. Read the comments for more details about the books.

Books and Comics that center around at least one character that has some gender fuckery in some direction and are also fantastic stories. The character will either be the main character or a very important side character in the main cast that has a good chunk of story. This list spans genres, mediums, and cultures. This is in no way a complete list, but I have personally read all of them and give them all a full thumbs up

Non-human romances (one or both partners), fantasy, dystopian, alien, and paranormal. Always open to suggestions!

My personal favorite Danmei full of trauma and pain 🫰 guaranteed bangers for the angst addicts
