Cozy mysteries are not my typical genre, but I had fun reading this book. The voice is quick and easy, though the writing overall is only fair. My complaints were mainly that the characters felt one-dimensional and the logic of the story was occasionally spotty.
Sophie read as younger than 44 to me, and while I understand that the point of this Domestic Diva was to be chock full of food and entertaining tips, pausing the story to describe the fancy gourmet organic meals that Sophie was constantly preparing and serving to her guests did start to grate a bit.
I was not able to predict the 'whodunit' final answer, so while I enjoyed the fact that almost every character was considered and this kept me guessing, after awhile the junior detective routine grew stale and I wanted to get past it. I felt that the final reveal was a bit of a let down.
Overall this book was perfectly fine for what it is, which isn't really my cup of tea, but I wanted a little more tension and conflict to pull me along. Things were just too easy and I was never fully invested in any of the characters or mystery.
I read this book with Nicole as a Thanksgiving theme.
