Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

Samantha Irby explodes onto the printed page with her debut collection of brand-new essays about trying to laugh her way through failed relationships, being black, taco feasts, bouts with Crohn's disease, and more. Every essay is crafted with the same scathing wit and poignant candor thousands of loyal readers have come to expect from visiting her notoriously hilarious blog.

This is the second audiobook I’ve tried, and while I’m not sure the rating is fair because I am not an audio fan, it really helped me kill time running on the dreadmill. I am not sure I would have read this traditionally otherwise because the collection of essays would have made it easy to abandon in favor of something else on my TBR shelf after completing one. While most were interesting, it wasn’t enough for me to want to sit and read each one back to back.
    Positives:
The author’s essays are very interesting, raw, intriguing, and funny at times. I felt like I was listening to a very good friend recounting different moments in time over coffee.
