some of these book suggestions were found in the comments of this list of audiobooks where the narrator makes the book even better, this list and its comments about fiction audiobooks narrated by the author, this reddit thread on favourite books narrated by the author, this list of 50+ audiobooks narrated by the author, this goodreads list of audio books narrated by the author, and finally this list of great audiobooks narrated by their authors
i didn't add all books listed here, especially not all of them from the goodreads list, so those are some other places to look if you've exhausted my list!
âwhip smartâ is an autobiographical piece by a former professional dominatrix that talks about her career and her drug addiction and she is so enjoyable. âCloistered: My Years As A Nunâ is also a memoir that I enjoyed listening to, about scandal and abuse in a cloistered convent that led to the author leaving and returning to society.
Idk how many memoirs youâre looking to add to this already huge list but I liked both a lot!
ooo awesome ty! and no worries iâm genuinely hoping to add Literally All Books i can find that fit under the niche, the goal is more âcheck the lists of a book and find thru my list that thereâs an audiobook narrated by the authorâ than a curated list of specific audiobooks that are good, because you can find those in other places đ«¶đœ i love rhe descriptions you gave though because now anyone looking thru the comments can see those and go đ ooooo
joe trohman from the band fall out boy wrote a memoir âNone of This Rocksâ and narrates it too :)
AWESOME! thank you
youre welcome! iâve been wanting to get more into audiobooks and i can already tell this list is a gonna be a great help
aaa i'm so glad!! that was its purpose, because i really feel like sometimes an author reading their own book brings a special kind of unmatched magic to a story đ excited to see where your audiobook journey brings you!
yess, it definitely is great to see the book in their voice. it gives you a new appreciation for it!
also some audiobook narrators iâm like THATS NOT HOW I THINK THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SAID AT ALL!! but with authors its their vision so it feels okay
Lucy Worsley's books Courtiers and Agatha Christie were narrated by her!!
WOAH perf tyyy!!
Love this! I will definitely be using this as a reference in the future. I think Don't Call Us Dead by Danez Smith would be a good addition! (A lot of collections in the intro to poetry quest are narrated by their authors, but that one is especially one of my favorites!)
omg great shout, iâll add the intro to poetry quest to my list of quests to try and add that book to this list ofc (iâve been meaning to go through more non-fic quests for ages LOLL), trying to add as many books as possible đ«¶đœ
This is great! May I recommend Harriet Tubman: Live in Concert written and narrated by Bob the Drag Queen!
ohhh yesss omg i heard that one was narrated by the author and it slipped past me to add it here!! thank you!!
oooh love this!!
it makes me giggle cause i just locked in and researched 200 books one random day without warning .. i think some audiobooks narrated by their author are just That Good had to share the joy
they are!! one of my fav eng audiobooks was narrated by the author. i had it on 1x just to properly appreciate it
omg which audiobook !!!! always looking for new recs
it was "i'm glad my mom died"!! super good
omg no way i literally unsuspended that on libby yesterday itâs next on the list!!
!!!! i hope you like it, it was wonderful
Hey, if I am correct, Harlan Ellison also narrated I Have No Mouth and I must Scream! Although I am not sure if he did it with all the stories in the collection, or just the titular shorts story. (If I may say, I really recommend listening to it, he DOES very much sound like a man who has been tortured for 109 yeara)
i found a version of the audiobook that has him narrated at least some of the stories, and thatâs good enough for this list for me! i also included other books where thereâs multiple voices but the author is one of them (especially fiction). thank you for the rec, iâll add it once iâm on my computer đ«¶đœ
You're welcome!!
