new year new cannibalism list: It seems that when people discuss cannibalism in media, it is often centered around its use as a metaphor for love. These are books where different kinds of love (romantic, familial, maternal, and platonic) are expressed through the consumption of human flesh by another human. There is horror, historical fiction, even some non-fiction in this list. Bon appetit

It's a bit of both! For example, in Bones and All by Camille Deangeles, cannibalism is a metaphor for sex and desire, but also incorporates themes of family and legacy. In Consuming Grief, Beth Conklin's ethnographic study describes a culture that once ate their dead relatives as a show of respect to the bereaved. In most of these books, cannibalism is literally happening as an expression of love. In some of these books, cannibalism is referenced, implied, or symbolic

I had a great time with Bloom, the ending is still a favorite of mine!
It was insane!!! Also when I first started reading I had no idea there was going to be cannibalism in the story UNTIL she mentions lard. And for some reason, the lard set off a few alarms
