Dude I was just thinking last night I wonder if making a list about Kazakh lit would be too niche for PG 😭 love u

Thank you! I’m trying to make one for every country!

Am I allowed to suggest additions? 👀

  • The Day Lasts More Than a Hundred Years — Chingiz Aitmatov
  • Amanat: Women’s Writing from Kazakhstan

There’s also Ilyas Yesenberlin’s The Nomads trilogy but I can’t find any translations to English so I guess doesn’t apply here?

Yes of course!!! The first one is already on the list, I have added the second one. I’ll see if I can find a translation for the 3rd but if not, will add when English translation comes out! Thank you so much!!!

So the third is a Kazakh classics , a trilogy, but it’s only been published semi-independently and somewhat chaotically but PG does have a version where all books are in one called The Nomads.

P.S. if you’d wanna expand your list at some point, I dug out quite a few Kazakh authors for my central Asian list, but I’m too tired to go through them again and see which ones are actually set in KZ đŸ«
