Superman For People Who Don't Like Superman Comics
Unless he's a member of a team or a bit player, I am usually bored by Superman books. He's too powerful, which makes very few believable opponents for him. This is a list of books that he features in that I've been interested enough to read more than once. Most of them are considered non-canon.

ooo i'll have to check these out. i don't like reading superman stuff typically. you hit the nail on the head in your description- he's too overpowered, so there usually aren't super high stakes in any of his books. thanks for the recs!
Superman Smashes The Klan is the one I'd start with. It's from the last ten years but it's based on a 1940's radio play, so Superman doesn't fly yet, he's still leaping buildings. Also, he doesn't know what Kryptonite is. The rest of the cast is really fun. It's maybe the best all-ages superhero book of the 2010s.
